Harvest Pictures Group can work with Chinese Production companies on Official Co-Productions. This will include Harvest Pictures Group investing between 20% – 30% of the full Production Costs. This investment includes the Australian Government program referred to as the 40% Australian Producers Offset.

To qualify as an Official Co-Production the project must be pre-approved by both Governments. Harvest Pictures Group will ensure the project meets the requirements of the Australian Government body, Screen Australia (SA).

Harvest Pictures Group will also work with the Chinese production company to ensure the production is approved by the Chinese Government bodies China Film Co-production Corporation (CFCC) and the State Administration for Print, Publication, Radio, Film and Television (SAPPRFT).

While each project will be slightly different the basic steps for an official Chinese / Australian Co-Production are as follows.

Harvest and the Chinese Production Company work together to determine the creative structure needed for a co-production

Co-Producers apply to Chinese (CFCC & SAPPRFT) & Australian (Screen Australia) Governments for Approval.

Once approval given the creative, financial and production decisions can be finalised.

Production is undertaken in both countries. Harvest ensures that the Co-Production requirements are met.

When the project is nearing completion censorship approval is sought from the Chinese Government

Once the project is completed final approval is sought from the Chinese & Australian Governments.
